As we embark on 2025, I am excited for the opportunities that lie ahead for DMTF. This year promises to be pivotal as we continue to drive innovation, foster collaboration, and address the evolving challenges of the IT industry.
Our mission to enable interoperable management of diverse platforms and technologies remains at the core of everything we do. In 2025, we will build upon our strong foundation by focusing on several key areas:
Advancing Standards to Meet Emerging Needs
In 2025, DMTF will prioritize updates to existing specifications and develop new ones to address emerging trends including:
- Enhancing support for sustainability initiatives, including power and thermal management, as the industry works toward greener IT solutions
- Strengthening our collaboration with industry partners to ensure that our standards align with real-world use cases
Expanding Collaboration
Our success hinges on working together as a global community. DMTF will continue to foster partnerships with industry organizations, open-source projects, and academic institutions. By breaking down silos, we can accelerate the adoption of our standards and improve interoperability across diverse ecosystems. This year, we plan to:
- Expand our liaison efforts to bring in fresh perspectives and expertise
- Provide more accessible resources to support adoption, including updated documentation, tools, and educational content
Enabling the Next Generation of IT Leaders
2025 is also a year to look toward the future of our industry. Attracting and nurturing the next generation of IT leaders is crucial to sustaining our momentum. To that end, we will:
- Provide educational resources that make DMTF standards more approachable for newcomers
- Ensure our standards remain agile and forward-thinking to serve the innovators of tomorrow
Here’s a snapshot of where we’re going and how your company can get involved.
The Redfish standard will continue to advance under the guidance of the Redfish Forum. The Forum is focused on the following deliverables and initiatives over the next year:

- Addition of flexible policy model to enable automated handling of events or state changes
- Support for additional types of DCIM equipment as liquid cooling-based datacenters become more mainstream
- Enhancements to support telemetry streaming and report generation
- Expanded set of “use case checker” tools to aid developers in testing common workflows and tasks
- Increased collaboration with OCP and other Alliance Partners to publish Redfish Interoperability Profiles to help end users and client software developments set minimum service implementation requirements
- More educational publications and Redfish School “how to” videos
- Celebration of the 10th anniversary of v1.0 release in August
Over the next year, the PMCI working group has a robust set of deliverables including but not limited to:

- Updates to the MCTP over USB Binding and MCTP Base Specification are planned
- New specifications are targeted for release in 2025 to expand the use cases across the MCTP and PLDM suite of specs
- MCTP Host Interface 2.0
- PCIe-MI over MCTP Binding
- MCTP PCC Transport Binding
- PLDM For Server SoC Modeling
- Continue to drive our long-term strategy, which includes the future MCTP 2.0 activity
The SPDM Working Group is currently working on several initiatives for 2025. As they kick off the year, they are focused on the following:
- Post-quantum support in SPDM, targeted for summer 2025. Work in progress version is available now
- Considering support for IETF RATS EAT in a future release
- Authorization spec in support of our members and alliance partners, targeted for Q2 2025
- Update DSP0277 to version 2.0 to support some authorization use cases
- Storage binding spec, targeted for Q1 2025
- Submitting SPDM specifications to ISO
Our decades-long commitment to CIM and SMBIOS continues and 2025 will bring new versions of these standards, which remain hallmarks of DMTF’s 30+ years of dedication to the industry. DMTF announcements can be found on our news page.
Educational outreach continues to be a top priority for the organization. We plan on creating additional educational materials for our website, the Redfish Developer Hub, and YouTube channel. Attendance at events and industry meetings provides valuable face-to-face opportunities, and we plan to attend events and meetings in person again this year. Be sure to stay up to date on where we’ll be in 2025! Information and educational outreach opportunities can be found here.
Be sure to mark your calendar to join us for APTS 2025, March 31-April 3, at the Hilton Garden Inn (Denver Downtown) in Denver, Colorado. APTS is a no-cost, DMTF-only hybrid event. Whether you will be attending virtually or in-person, please register here. Your registration will help the assessment of the hybrid bandwidth needs. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to participate in some of the most important technical work of the year. Learn more about APTS 2025 and its schedule.
Membership renewals are right around the corner, and we hope to continue our collaboration on this valuable work with you by our side. If your company is not yet a member and you want to learn more, we invite you to consider how the mission of DMTF, and our unique standards work, could benefit both your company and the industry at large.
As we move forward, I am inspired by the dedication of our members and the collective impact of our work. Together, we can shape the future of IT and ensure that DMTF remains a trusted leader in driving interoperability and innovation. Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Here’s to a successful and transformative 2025!
