DMTF Releases PLDM for File Transfer WIP
Posted on Wed, 02/28/2024 - 10:58
DMTF recently announced the public availability of its Platform Level Data Model (PLDM) for File Transfer Specification (DSP0242) Work in Progress (WIP). It is available for download here. This document enhances the existing PLDM suite of specifications by providing an ability to discover and transfer files within a PLDM Subsystem. The WIP defines the messages and data structures to enable this new capability using well known PLDM semantics.
Some of the new capabilities provided by this specification will include:
- Discovery of files and directories available on a PLDM terminus which can be transferred
- Discovery of the file and directory metadata (such as file size) using PLDM PDRs & sensors
- Ability to transfer both regular and serial FIFO file types
- Both flat (no directories) and hierarchical directory structures are supported
Designed to be referenced by other standards organizations and developers, DMTF invites public comment on the PLDM File Transfer SpecificationWIP before finalization. Feedback may be submitted on our website at https://www.dmtf.org/standards/feedback/.
